Abstract
First, the study presents descriptive evidence on the extent and structure of e-auctions usage in public procurement over the period 2007-2012. Second, we estimate the impact of e-auctions on competition and ultimately prices. Two groups of goods which tend to be purchased in the public sector with the help of e-auctions most frequently, namely energy and medical equipment, are investigated in more detail. Finally, the study examines the relationship between the number of bidders and prices.
